Montage Production

During an audio and video production course, I was given the task of creating a montage that demonstrated a variety of shot types and angles. At the time, I happened to be travelling with family in Disney World and decided to take advantage of my unique surroundings as the subject matter for my project.

I began with the preproduction stage, planning my shots and surveying the intriguing settings around me. I created a storyboard with a snapshot of the frame and what shot type was being demonstrated. This was also the time I wrote a script for the narration that I would be using as a voiceover throughout the montage. After receiving feedback from my peers on effective shot composition, I was reading to jump into the production stage.

I set out with my tripod and preproduction documents to begin filming. To create a more natural setting, I recruited my family to pose as extras in the shots, enjoying their fun-filled vacation. I collected each shot more than once so that I was able to pick and choose the best content for the final product.

After I was done filming, it was time to put everything together with transitions and sound in the postproduction stage. During this stage, I recorded my voiceover using Audacity. The video editing was done in AfterEffects while the audio editing was done in Premiere Pro. The final product was presented as a mock commercial for the resort I was staying at, including music, sound effects, and ambient noises.
